Travel Throwback: Devil's Lake

Hands down one of the best state parks in Wisconsin is Devil's Lake. Unless you get lost on the trail and find yourself scaling down a wall of giant quartzite boulders. Strike that -- especially if you get lost on the trail and find yourself scaling down a wall of giant quartzite boulders.

They try to make it easy, but between foot traffic and hoof traffic, a few repeated detours off the main route quickly turn into a dirt path that looks nearly identical to the real path. And you, unsuspecting and stupid human, just choose one and hope for the best. Which is how we ended up here in 2012:

Possibly not the intended state-sanctioned path.

Happy camping!
